What is Dermatopathology
Dermatopathology is the study of, and diagnosis of diseases of the skin, hair and nails at a microscopic level.
What is a Dermatopathologist
A Dermatopathologist is a doctor who specializes in both dermatology and pathology. He or she examines biopsied tissue with a microscope and provides the ordering provider with a diagnosis on a written pathology report.
Dermatopathologists first complete training in dermatology and then he or she dedicates another year of training to develop advanced skills in diagnosing diseases based on examination of tissue samples under a microscope.
Dr. Douglas A. Laurain is a Board Certified Dermatopathologist and Dermatologist, he currently works out of our Novi office location.
